National Poetry Day in Arkansas is celebrated each October.
PRA hosts an annual workshop in honor of Rosa Zagnoni
Marinoni (former Poet Laureate of Arkansas) featuring guest speakers
and various activities.
The 2006 Poetry Day Celebration was held at the Cox Building In Little Rock on October 21st. Dr. Michael Schaefer Professor of English University of Central Arkansas, was keynote speaker. There were 25 contest
categories in which poets could compete. Cash prizes were as much as $1,000 (Sybil
Nash Abrams Award).
