Poetry Contests for Arkansas Students

SYBIL NASH ABRAMS MEMORIAL CONTESTS

GRADES 6 - 8 (Junior Division)

GRADES 9 - 12 (Senior Division)

No entry fee.

Any subject, any form, 24 line limit.

RULES:

1. Deadline: March 15, 2012 (Postmark)

Please do not submit entries before January 1, 2012

2. Awards for Senior Division: First - $50; Second - $25; Third - $15;

Fourth - $10; Three Honorable Mentions - books.

Awards for Junior Division: First - $25; Second - $15; Third - $10;

Fourth - $5; Three Honorable Mentions - books.

3. Submit one poem (two copies) neatly typed or handwritten. Poem must be student’s original work: published or unpublished; prized or unprized. No poem will be returned. Be sure to keep a copy.

4. On one copy only, put student’s name, complete mailing address, telephone number, age, grade, and school. On this same copy, student must certify his/her poem by writing: My poem has not been copied in whole or part from another author’s work, including poems on the internet. Sign your name. Put no identification on the second copy.

5. 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rdand 4^th place winners will be considered for publication in Poets’ Roundtable of Arkansas Annual Anthology at no expense to poets.

8. Winners will be announced at Poets’ Roundtable of Arkansas Spring Workshop – Luncheon (to be announced) in Little Rock. Winners who are present will read their poems. Awards will be mailed to winners who are not present.
